During the construction of a wind park close cooperation with the manufacturer of the turbines is essential. In our role as a general contractor we define the time schedule for construction and coordinate it with the manufacturer as well as all other companies involved in construction. Procedures are determined and dates for the construction phases are defined. These comprise the building of park infrastructure, transportation of the turbines to the site as well as the erection and planned commissioning of the wind turbines. Regular inspections of construction progress ensure a successful implementation.
The planning of the grid connection takes place parallel to the process of approval. The planning of the actual grid connection as well as that of the transmission lines commences once the grid operator bindingly defines the point of grid connection. In some cases it is necessary to secure land plots via lease contract and easement. A permit considering aspects of nature conservation is required for the transmission line. Depending on the size of the wind park the connection to the grid is via a transmission station or via a separate substation which then also has to be built. In order to ensure smooth interaction between the wind park, the wind park operator and the grid operator it is necessary to also install technology for communication.
When negotiating with the producers of wind turbines and purchasing turbines our focus lies on long term reliability as well as efficiency. For this reason we solely rely on full-developed technology and reputable manufacturers.
Many factors like turbine availability or how easily a turbine can be insured or financed influence the decision on which type of turbine is purchased. In order to assess the efficiency of a turbine it is necessary to check whether the purchase price, the noise emissions and the power curve are compatible with wind conditions on site. Also relevant for the choice of turbine is the question of whether or not the infrastructure needed for repairs and maintenance exists or can be created.
Every turbine type has specific lifetime operating costs such as costs for maintenance, upkeep and repairs. Thanks to many years of experience in planning as well as management (technical and commercial) we are able to choose the best suited type of turbine for each sight.

VENTOTEC is responsible for the entire management of the project as well as of the actual construction works. In addition to the coordination with the turbine manufacturers we closely work together with heavy load hauliers, all authorities involved, the land owners and the farmers affected by construction work.
The experienced engineers from various disciplines working for our construction department are contact persons on site and see to the implementation of roads, cable lines and foundations according to the conceptual and implementation planning. At the same time invitations to tender are prepared, subcontractors are commissioned and construction is managed for transmissions stations, cable lines, substations and for all civil engineering works (roads, foundations and earthworks). As a general contractor we coordinate and manage construction work and see to safety and health protection regulations being adhered to.
